There is no better excuse to go out for a day/night on the town than for a themed party! I’ve hit them all from decade parties to Santa bar crawls, but my girlfriend wedding party themed event was one of my favorites! I’ve never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day, so reliving this day with my besties was so much fun!
My good friend wanted to wear her wedding dress again. I didn’t have my wedding dress hanging in my closet like the rest of my friends did, because I made my twin daughters’ baptism gowns out of my wedding dress. I started my hunt to find a new wedding dress. My search began by visiting a few thrift stores. The two thrift stores I visited didn’t have any wedding dresses for sale. I tried searching advertisements online and saw a few good options, but nothing was close to home and I wasn’t willing to drive over an hour to try on a used dress that might not fit. I went to a local wedding dress shop and hit the jackpot! I was the only customer after work on a Wednesday and the bridal consultants took to the challenge of finding me my perfect party dress. Being spoiled like a bride-to-be while sipping champagne, I found the most beautiful mermaid style wedding dress that I would have been excessively nervous to wear with my pear shaped hips for my wedding in 2013. Only one of my girlfriends actually fit into her real wedding dress to wear for our party. Being too chubby after babies was a fun excuse for new white dresses for that walk down….not the aisle, but the walk to the bar.
No Chicago wedding party is complete without pictures of our beautiful city. We hired a photographer, jumped in our rented trolley and hit all the spots brides and grooms visit to make memories without our husbands in tow. One of the most popular places to shoot great Chicago pictures from is the road between the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Here we ran in to other bridal parties, prom party buses and a few parties with girls celebrating their quinceanera. Pictures in the middle of the hustle and bustle were needed too. We couldn’t help but stop and shoot in the middle of Michigan Avenue.
One of the best part of Chicago is indulging in our beautiful city from above. We visited Noyane at the Conrad Hotel and the Roof at theWit to enjoy the views. We made quite the scene coming in and everyone wanted to know what the occasion was. Free bottles of bubbly were sent our way from both men and woman loving our party theme idea.
We ended the night with dancing the night away in Chicago’s Gold Coast area. What a great day with wonderful memories! Comment below and tell me what your favorite themed party was! Cheers!
